Fort Dobbs Historic Site

Fort Dobbs State Historic Site is a window into the period of the French and Indian War: a global conflict which changed the fate of empires and sowed the seeds of independence.

The site features a full-scale replica of the 1756 log fort, which was completed in 2019. Guided tours offered several times each day allow visitors to experience the interior of the fort and learn about the lives of its garrison of North Carolina Provincial soldiers, the settlers who the fort was meant to protect, and the Native Americans who were swept up in the conflict as both allies and enemies.

The grounds and museum are open free of charge from 9am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday. A $2 fee applies to tours of the fort. Several special events are held each year.
