Description

The Iredell County Public Library will be hosting the Smithsonian exhibit "Voices and Votes: Democracy in America" from April 17 to May 28. The exhibit includes historical and contemporary photos, educational videos, multimedia interactives, and historical objects related to American democracy. The Statesville library will also be hosting a series of programs during this time period centered around voting and democracy.

Before the days of social media and the Internet, newspapers were the primary source of information and gossip, especially in rural areas like Iredell County. Local History Librarian Joel Reese will discuss the variety of newspapers in our county over the years and the role they played in local, regional, and national politics.
